Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon
Dr. Daniel O’Brien grew up in York, PA surrounded by family members in the dental field including his grandfather, aunts, uncles, and sisters. He graduated from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio where he obtained his undergraduate and DDS degree. In 1982, Dr. O’Brien continued his education by completing a General Practice Residency (GPR) in Dentistry at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio and then obtained his training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. Following his residency program, Dr. O’Brien was an Associate Clinical Professor at Temple Hospital and Dental School instructing students and residents. He started his practice on Summer Street in Plymouth in 1987.
With over 30 years of experience in Oral Surgery, Dr. O’Brien is a valued member of O’Brien Family Dentistry. He performs a wide variety of procedures including routine and surgical extractions, wisdom tooth removal, biopsies, bone grafts, treatment of cysts and tumors, as well as dental implant placement.
Dr. O’Brien utilizes numerous sedation techniques to relieve anxiety in his patients including nitrous oxide (laughing gas), intravenous and oral sedation, and general anesthesia. He is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and has completed many continuing education courses to keep up with the current dental and surgical trends.
Dr. O’Brien enjoys boating, skiing, golfing, cooking, and woodworking.

Fran has worked for Dr. Daniel O’Brien since he established his practice in 1987. With years of experience, Fran has a calming demeanor that helps patients relax during surgical procedures.
Fran grew up in Hingham and graduated from Hingham High School in 1966. She graduated from Northeastern/Tufts Dental Assisting program. Fran married her husband at St. Paul’s church in 1971 and has two children, Jean and Chris. For 11 years her family lived in East Weymouth, but they currently reside in Marshfield where they have many pets including a dog, Charlie, and cat, Gracey. Fran loves hiking and has been camping with the same group of friends annually since 1969. She is actively involved with Glastonbury Abbey and is committed to a variety of community and social issues.
Susan has assisted Dr. Daniel O'Brien for about 30 years. She finds his office to be a very rewarding place to work and we appreciate her loyalty and hard work.
Susan was born in Hartford, CT and was raised in East Bridgewater, MA. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy. Susan and her husband moved to Londerry, NH where she taught in the school system. She is very active with the Church of the Pilgrimage in Plymouth and feels most at peace in her garden where the ashes of her two dogs, Barkley and Oscar, were scattered. In her spare time, Susan loves to read, walk on the beach, and eat out at restaurants. Susan also enjoys spending time with her husband of 47 years, her children (Anthony and Michelle), and grandchildren.
Sandy graduated from Plymouth Carver High School. She attended Blue Hills Technical Institute and earned a certificate in Medical Assisting. Sandy also received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Bridgewater State. She has over 15 years of experience managing oral surgery practices. Her organizational skills allow Dr. O’Brien’s office to run efficiently. Sandy now resides in Plymouth and enjoys traveling.
